icon-location2 Rue Molière, 13001 Marseille, France
This 1800-guest neoclassical theater was designated a historic site in the 1997s.

The Opera Municipal de Marseille was built by architect Gaston Castel on the ruins of the old Grand-Théâtre, which was destroyed by a fire in 1919. Much of the old theater was destroyed, except for the paintings. wall, column row and residual peristalsis. The reconstruction, from 1920 to 1924, mobilized a collective of architects (Gaston Catel and Henri Ebrard), sculptors (the stage is Bourdelle's work), painters (Henri de Groux, Richelle, Louis Audibert, Mathieu Verdilhan, Augustin Carrara, Jean Jullien). After that, the theater was also repaired in different years such as: In 1944 a bomb penetrated the roof or in 1969, a large chandelier collapsed and was replaced by a ceiling lamp… The theater follows the Neoclassical architectural style and was classified as a historical monument in 1997.

This neoclassical theater accommodates about 1800 guests. The theater's season runs from September to June next year.
