Profile
When it first opened in 1916, the Navy Pier was both an amusement park and a transportation facility. Today, this 50-acre port has become a bustling entertainment destination with many attractions, games, restaurants, parks, and events. This is a family-friendly place as there are activities suitable for all ages.
Visitors can see the city from above at the 150ft high wheel (more than 45m) and play games at Navy Pier Park; see classic plays at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater; or visit the 6-storey, 1-acre indoor botanical garden Crystal Gardens.
There is also a Chicago Children's Museum with a water playground, an invention area and highly educational exhibits. On warm summer days, adults can cool off with a cold beer and enjoy live music at Miller Lite Beer Garden.
Cruise ships carrying passengers around the area are also docked at the port.
Not only an ideal place to hang out, Navy Pier is also home to many favorite restaurants such as Big City Chicken, hamburgers at DMK Burger and fish dishes at Fish Bar, Goddess and the bakery. Baker, Original Rainbow Cone, shaved ice and Snow Dragon Shavery yoghurt...
