The Southern Cultural Tourism Area was initiated on October 30, 2009, and officially opened to the public on December 24, 2017. Covering an area of 17 hectares, this tourism complex features various outstanding architectural works, as well as cultural and historical elements tied to the process of exploring and protecting the Southern land. One of the highlights is Nam Phuong Linh Tu, a site dedicated to honoring historical figures who contributed to the development of the Southern region.

Key Attractions in the Southern Cultural Tourism Area
1. Nam Phuong Linh Tu: This is the most prominent structure in the area, built in the traditional wooden house style, inspired by the royal architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty in Hue. Nam Phuong Linh Tu honors 125 historical figures who played a role in developing, defending, and bringing fame to the Southern land. Among them are notable figures like King Gia Long, Nguyen Hue, Mac Thien Tich, Nguyen Huu Canh, and Nguyen Van Thoai. Notably, this temple holds two Vietnam Records: it is the first temple to honor historical figures who contributed to the South and the temple with the largest collection of bronze statues of historical figures.

2. Nam Phuong Tile Bridge
This beautiful, unique tile bridge leads to Nam Phuong Linh Tu and is one of the rare architectural features in the Mekong Delta, providing a sense of stepping back in time to an ancient rural village.

3. Dang Clan Nam Phuong Linh Tu
This temple honors the ancestors of the Dang family, including historical figures like Minister of Public Works Dang Nghiem, General Dang Tat, Prime Minister Dang Dung, and especially Admiral Dang Nhan Cam, the progenitor of the Dang Long Hung clan. It also features the Dang Clan Museum, which displays and preserves cultural heritage related to the Dang family.

4. Southern Vietnam Museum and Southern Land Museum
These museums showcase valuable artifacts related to the history, culture, and daily life of the people of the Mekong Delta. The Southern Land Museum presents the history of land reclamation, farming and fishing tools, and artifacts related to the economic and social activities of early settlers in the region. Special exhibits include items recovered from sunken merchant ships in the Southern seas, dating back to the 15th–18th centuries.

5. Southern Village
This space recreates the life, production, and daily activities of the people of Southern Vietnam in the past. Visitors can admire traditional architectural features such as tiled houses, stilt houses, and village communal houses, while also participating in folk games, enjoying traditional cuisine, and purchasing local specialties as souvenirs.

One of the most appealing aspects of this cultural tourism area is its serene atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings. As visitors pass through the entrance, they are welcomed by tree-lined paths, vast open spaces, and historical houses with deep cultural significance. In addition to the lotus pond, the tourism area features aquatic plant lakes and lush green lawns, providing a perfect spot for relaxation.

The Southern Cultural Tourism Area hosts traditional festivals on the 8th and 9th days of the 3rd lunar month every year. These events commemorate the contributions of historical figures in the exploration and defense of the Southern land.
