Nampo-dong attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists year-round and is also one of Busan's favorite destinations. Every year PIFF Square is one of the main stages of the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF). Whether it's a movie theater or a fine restaurant, Nampo-dong has it all. Near Nampo-dong is Yongdusan Park (Yongdu Mountain), accessible by escalator. Much loved by tourists, the park is a must-see for those who love to walk or want a panoramic view of Busan from the park's observation tower.
Nampo-dong is one of the main import areas for Korean goods. Its streets are filled with shops displaying countless unique handbags, shoes and accessories. Street stalls lined the streets displaying their own colorful accessories In a variety of combinations, attracting a crowd of young people eager to try on sparkling earrings and necklaces. The main street in Nampo-dong is a favorite shopping destination for young people looking to change their boring everyday wardrobe. As an area where goods are imported, Nampo-dong is also known for its variety of shops. Concentrated mostly on Nampo-dong's main streets are a variety of shops that not only sell high-end brands but also discount products. But the real attraction when shopping in Nampo-dong lies in the shops and stalls that specialize in imported goods. From clothing to shoes, bags and fashion accessories, the stores offer products that appeal to not only teenagers but young professionals as well.
- Book Alley: One of the most interesting places in the area is the book alley because it has many small book shops, although there is only one English book store, it is still a place that attracts many people to visit. . This book area has a great vibe so there always seem to be new cafes popping up around to attract book buyers to stop by to sip coffee while reading new books. The alley is actually small and crowded.
- Tin Can Alley: What started as a food market that was left over by the US military after the Korean War, this area is now filled with cheap market items, "imported" foods and alcohol. . Take the word "imported" lightly as many of the items here can also be easily found in local shopping supermarkets. The area gets crowded pretty quickly, and while there aren't many unique "imported" items, it's a pleasant experience to visit Nampo-dong.
Besides the shops, Nampo-dong is always crowded with locals and tourists crammed with tempting snacks at the numerous street stalls throughout the area. Some of these dishes cannot be tasted anywhere but Nampo-dong. While fried pancakes filled with brown sugar are a popular street food across Korea, Nampo-dong has a special variety with healthy ingredients like sunflower seeds or pumpkin. Busan is perhaps best known for its delicious Dongnae Pajeon (a pancake-like dish usually made with scallions, eggs, flour, and lots of seafood). The Nampo-dong area is home to delicious street foods like Buchujeon (similar to Dongnae Pajeon, but uses chives instead of scallions) and spicy squid salad topped with red chili sauce. These two dishes are two of the most popular street foods in Nampo-dong. Other popular dishes include hoeguksu (noodle soup with raw fish, vegetables, and vinegared red chili sauce) and milmyeon (a cold noodle soup made with flour, herbs and vegetables, and a specially prepared broth) by boiling beef bones).
The best way to get to Nampo-dong is to take the train to Bujeon Station and then take the subway to Nampo-dong. A good starting point is to take exit 7 and then turn left, you'll be started by the camera shop and can walk down the street from there.
