Hồ Wushantou (Wushantou Reservoir)

Wushantou Lake is a scenic spot located in the border area of Lioujia County and Guantian County. Looking down from above, you will see a panoramic view of the vast Wushantou Lake with unusual zigzag shapes like turquoise coral reefs, that's why it is also called "coral lake". This is a great place that followers of check-in and virtual life should not miss when they have the opportunity to visit Tainan city.

Wushantou Lake was built based on the design of Japanese irrigation engineer Yoichi Hatta and was the largest man-made reservoir in Asia at the time of its completion in 1930. It took 10 years to build and complete. This area plays an important role for the agricultural industry of Tainan City, providing a huge amount of irrigation water for more than 100,000 hectares of agricultural land in the region. From the 1930s onwards, the Lioujia and Guantian areas became the largest rice producers in Taiwan and Japan with three rice crops per year.

The lake was built by an advanced technique in the early 20th century and today it has become a famous sightseeing and sightseeing area of Tainan city. The highlight in the lake area is the bronze statue of engineer Hatta Yoichi, who has built this famous work, he is greatly admired by locals and Japanese tourists when coming here. He also offered him bouquets of flowers to show his absolute respect. Every winter, this area is filled with peach-colored flowers in full bloom, making visitors feel like they are entering a garden in Japan. The nearby Love Stone area is a place where you can enjoy the lush sugar cane and the tranquil countryside nurtured by the fresh water of Wushantou Lake.

You can choose to stroll the trails around the lake or indulge in a solar-powered boat excursion that takes you around the lake's beautiful, poetic landscape. The boat will wander on the calm water, taking you to the upper reaches of the lake, passing more than 100 large and small islands scattered everywhere. There is also Zhongzheng Park located on a hilltop overlooking Wushantou Lake and the distant mountains. The park has water rides and loads of other activities for all ages. In addition, visitors can also choose for themselves any small corner in the park area to camp or have a BBQ party.

The attraction is open from 08.00 AM to 05.30 PM. Entrance ticket price NT$ 200/pax includes entrance ticket, sightseeing boat and all fun and entertainment activities.

From Tainan city center, you can take the train and get off at Xinying or Linfengying station, transfer to bus Xinying Y1, and get off at Wushantou Lake stop; or take the train to Longtian Station, then transfer to Shing Nan bus O10 bound for National Tainan University of the Arts and get off at Wushantou Lake stop.
