Beneath the dome, amid the colorful mosaic and on the turquoise granite pedestal, is Napoleon's tomb. His body rested inside six coffins of iron, mahogany, lead, ebony and oak. Below the tomb is a marble floor with a laurel wreath with inscriptions listing the eight victories that made Napoleon I famous.
