The ruins of Qila Rai Pithora

Considered a historical gem of the capital Delhi, Qila Rai Pithora or Lal Kot is an ancient city surrounded by fortifications. Currently, only the ruins of a large fortress remain, bearing the majestic traces of a citadel, so Qila Rai Pithora becomes an impressive place for those who are passionate about history.

Built by the Rajput king, Prithvi Raj Chauhan the famous hero in the stories of the Hindu resistance against the invaders. Qila Rai Pithora is the first city dating from the 11th century to still be recognized due to recorded historical data. Currently, the remains of Qila Rai Pithora have been preserved in the Conservation Park at Mehrauli. This park has a 5.5m tall statue of the great ruler Prithviraj Chauhan and there is also a library there.

Delhi weather is quite severe, summer is hot and winter here is cold. However, as a historical site, it is still a year-round tourist destination for history buffs. If you want to explore the beauty of this fort in a cool environment, the best time to visit is from October until the end of March. Today, Qila Rai Pithora of the Archaeological Survey Authority Indian Studies and is being developed as a tourist destination will feature a museum featuring artifacts from the Mughal era.
