The Founding of Đạo Dừa

Nguyễn Thành Nam, the founder of Đạo Dừa, was born in Phước Thạnh commune, Trúc Giang district, Kiến Hòa province (now Châu Thành district, Bến Tre). After studying in France, he began to reflect deeply on religion and architecture, which led him to form the idea for a new religion. Upon returning to his hometown and establishing a family, Nam decided to become a monk and chose Cồn Phụng as the birthplace of Đạo Dừa in 1963.
