National War Memorial: A place to honor those who died for their country
The National War Memorial (NWM) is a 28-metre-tall granite memorial, dedicated in 1939. The memorial is a tribute to Canadians who died in the wars. The NWM is shaped like an arc, with an eternal flame in the center. On the arc are bas-reliefs depicting the wars in which Canada participated. Below the arc is a bronze statue of a Canadian soldier. NWM is an important place for Canadians. The memorial is a place to remember those who died for their country, and is a symbol of Canadian patriotism and courage.
