Buhbing Summer Palace is located on the top of a high mountain in Doi Buak Ha, Suthep, Chiang Mai. Given its location, the palace enjoys a cool climate all year round. Surrounding the palace is mountainous terrain with light mist, flowers are planted along the sidewalks leading up to the palace creating a beautiful scene.
The palace was built in the "ruean mu" architectural style of Central Thailand with two areas: the main palace and the guest house. The main palace is a two-story structure, the upper floor of which is made of eucalyptus wood with a characteristic two-story roof, this is usually the residence of the King, and the ground floor is the resting place of the accompanying people. The guesthouse is also built on two floors in Thai style but with a more modern touch, where the royal guests and high-ranking civil servants live. In the palace grounds, there is a large water reservoir for irrigation of all the trees and flowers in the palace.
The first Royal guests to stay at the Buhbing summer palace were King Frederick IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark during their visit to Thailand in January 1962. The palace is open to the public. all days of the week except for the royal family (usually January to March).
Walking in the grounds of the palace is an interesting experience, you can see the large garden filled with flowers, enjoy the fresh air and take souvenir photos. If you don't want to walk, you can take a tram with a service fee of 300 baht per vehicle (maximum for three people).
The road to Buhbing Summer Palace is very convenient as it is located on the way to Doi Suthep Temple, the famous temple located on a mountain of the same name about 32 km from Chiang Mai. Visiting the Royal Palace, visitors should bring polite clothes, if they accidentally wear shorts or open-shoulder mini skirts, there will be a clothing rental service inside the palace.
