In 1887, the city was devastated by a violent earthquake. In 1927, the Guest Yard area was rebuilt and had a new name - Central Farmers Market. In the 40s, markets were just wooden stalls in the form of tents, and trading lasted only from morning to noon. During the war, prices rose rapidly and prices here skyrocketed, not everyone could afford luxury items here.

By the 70s, the wooden stalls were dismantled and a covered building in the Soviet tectonic style was born. The Green Market has been reborn and has its current appearance. The main architect of the project is Mark Pavlov. The market has a maximum capacity of 800 stalls and is also considered quite carefully for safety and seismic tolerance. At that time, it was one of the most modern technology markets.
