The National Handicraft Museum has many galleries inside the museum including: tribal and rural craft gallery, popular culture gallery, textile gallery, craft gallery fine art…
A particular attraction is a village complex spread over an area of more than 20,000 square meters. There are about 15 axillaries representing villages, along with temples and courtyards from different parts of India. The entire village complex is the remains of a temporary exhibition on rural Indian themes, held in 1972. Today, a number of traditional craftsmen reside at the museum, they work in a designated area within the museum complex and sell the crafts they create. Tourists can also attend a folk art or dance performance. Other interesting objects of the museum are the 300-year-old Bhoota collection from Karnataka state, Chamba handkerchiefs with unique embroidery and rare Kashmiri dushalas shawls that are up to 300 years old. In addition to the artifacts, the museum is also home to a library, laboratories, and a research and documentation center.
