Cai Bau Pagoda is also known as Truc Lam Giac Tam Zen Monastery. The temple is located 60km from Ha Long city center, it takes about 1 hour 40 minutes by car. The temple is also the last stop in the pilgrimage tour to famous temples in Quang Ninh: Yen Tu, Ba Vang Pagoda, Long Tien Pagoda, Cua Ong Temple, Cap Tien Pagoda and finally Cai Bau Pagoda. The temple is open all year round, so visitors can come here at any time to visit and worship Buddha. The time when visitors to the temple are most crowded is in the early spring days, or the Buddha's birthday festival takes place on the 12th of the 4th lunar month every year and the Vu Lan Bao Hieu festival takes place on the 25th of July every year.
The pagoda was built on an area of about 20 hectares, located quite far from the population center. So when coming here, visitors will feel the peace only listening to the waves crashing on the shore, the sound of temple bells. With its back leaning against the mountain, facing the sea has created a temple with majestic but very poetic beauty. The prominent white statue of Avalokitesvara near the parking area will be the first stop for visitors to burn incense before going to the main hall. To get to the main hall above, people will have to pass a series of stairs, the stairs seem to want to test visitors when finding the Buddha. Up to the main hall, the scenery above is very beautiful, looking out in front of the palace is Bai Tu Long Bay where the rocky mountains overlap between the immense sea creating a unique and unique picture. Inside the main hall is very spacious, there is a statue of Buddha Shakyamuni behind with a bronze relief of the Bodhi tree, where the Buddha attained enlightenment. On both sides are statues of Manjushri and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, symbolizing wisdom and compassion. In addition to the main hall, there is also a house for monks and nuns. Inside the temple grounds are decorated with many miniatures and planted a lot of trees, especially peach trees. If visitors come to the temple in the spring, they will see peach trees blooming on both sides of the road. During the year, the pagoda organizes two big festivals, celebrating Buddha's Birthday and Vu Lan Bao Hieu. On the occasion of the festival, the temple organizes to cook vegetarian rice for tourists from all over the world to enjoy. Vegetarian rice is simple to cook but quite delicious, everyone will serve themselves from taking the rice to washing the dishes.
