Profile
The Stratosphere Tower is part of the hotel, casino The Strat has 24 floors, 2,427 rooms and 7,400 meters wide, and it is the tallest tower west of the Mississippi River with a height of 350 meters.
Stratosphere opened on April 30, 1996 with the original construction concept of just a 308m high neon light tower for Las Vegas. Later, the plan to build the tower was changed to become a better version of the tower including an elevator leading up to an observatory in the hope of turning the Stratosphere into a local landmark similar to Eiffel Tower of Paris, Empire State Building of New York. The plan received widespread opposition, from local authorities to the Federal Aviation Administration. However, the tower was finally officially started construction in February 1992 just north of the Las Vegas Strip and south of downtown. On August 29, 1993, around midnight, the unfinished tower suddenly caught fire and fortunately no injuries occurred. This caused the tower to lose construction funds. To continue, Grand Casino acquired 33% of the building contractor's tower.
For more than $70 million, the Stratosphere tower was completed with a top with two observatories, a revolving restaurant called "Top of the World" and four thrill rides.
Big Shot: the game is loved by many tourists. In this game, visitors will be shot straight into the air at an altitude of 250 to 300m at a speed of 45 mph and rotate continuously.
Sky Jump: Visitors will perform a heart-stopping jump at speeds of up to 64.3km/h at 250m above the Las Vegas strip. This heart-pounding game holds the Guinness World Record for its breakthrough.
Insanity: A giant mechanical arm that extends 19.5m over the top of the tower, spinning passengers in the open air at speeds of up to 105km/h while they're pushed up to a 70-degree angle.
X-cream will bring visitors a roller coaster ride like no other. From the edge of the top of the tower, visitors will be propelled on an 8m-long shaft and suspended there, weightless over the Las Vegas Strip before being pulled back and pushed up again.
Even if visitors are afraid of heights and cannot participate in thrilling games at Stratosphere tower, watching the city view in the observatory will be an appropriate choice. The luxurious interior space, lightness or the authenticity of the outside with excited players all depends on the choice of visitors.
