Water mountains – Duc Thuy Son

Non Nuoc (formerly known as Duc Thuy Son), is a mountain located in a very important position, blocking the Day River, Van River, National Highway 10 and many important traffic routes. The mountain is more than 100 meters high, visitors have to climb 72 stone steps to reach the top.

The top of the mountain is relatively flat, with green trees creating a cool atmosphere, convenient for playing and resting. Non Nuoc Mountain is one of the few mountains in Vietnam known as "Tho Mountain" - a rock book containing hundreds of excellent poems by famous authors. Standing on the mountain, visitors can have a panoramic view of Ninh Binh city.

Non Nuoc Mountain was discovered and exploited by Truong Han Sieu, who also named the mountain Duc Thuy Son. Once known as "The fairy scene in the secular world" for a long time, Duc Thuy Son has been an attractive topic of poetry. There are few mountains with more than 40 poems carved into the cliff like Mount Thuy and there are hundreds of poems. The poetry of poets through the dynasties: Tran Anh Tong, Pham Su Manh, Truong Han Sieu, Nguyen Trai, Le Thanh Tong, Cao Ba Quat, Nguyen Khuyen... in 1962.

Along the way up the mountain there are bunkers with remnants of wars. There is also a statue of hero Luong Van Tuy, a young communist who bravely overcame bombs and planted the Vietnamese Communist Party flag on the mountain. Due to the deposition of thick alluvium associated with the history of Ninh Binh's formation, Thuy mountain and Van river have become unique symbols of Ninh Binh city.

At the foot of the mountain is Non Nuoc Pagoda, an ancient temple hundreds of years old, built during the reign of King Ly Nhan Tong of the Ly Dynasty, and a temple to Truong Han Sieu, a Ninh Binh man and a great mandarin from the reign of King Tran Anh. Tong came to King Tran Du Tong, revered by the Tran kings as "Master", and together with Dr. Nguyen Trung Ngan wrote the Law "Picture Thu" and the book "The Emperor's Deputies". The work laid the foundation for the Vietnamese feudal system to operate according to the law. Truong Han Sieu was worshiped in the Temple of Literature after his death.
