Kocatepe Mosque is the largest mosque in Ankara, Turkey, built between 1967 and 1987 in the Kocatepe district in Kızılay. The cathedral's massive size and striking architecture make it a landmark that can be seen from almost anywhere in central Ankara.

This is an important mosque in Ankara with a capacity of up to 24,000 worshipers at the same time. It has magnificent spiers 88 meters high and was built in the neoclassical Ottoman architectural style. The church has a beautiful marble interior, stained windows, and vibrant artwork on the central dome that captivates visitors.

The largest mosque in Ankara, the Kocatepe Mosque creates a majestic resonance with its minarets and multi-tiered domes. It has become a towering symbol across the city skyline and is visible from most areas on clear days.

The construction of the impressive spiritual center took about two decades to complete. It was rebuilt twice in various styles before taking on the look of the current neoclassical Ottoman design.

The mosque's awe-inspiring design, which consists of several floors ornately decorated with elegant patterns, was seen as a move away from tradition and has received mixed reviews over the years. There is an opinion that the architecture of the Kocatepe mosque is too modern, but there is also an opinion that it is a good example of neoclassical Islamic design.

The domes and spiers are cleverly built to almost emulate Gothic architecture. The mosque has four minarets reaching 289 feet (88 meters) high along with graceful balconies perched above the dome, several stylish steps and a main entrance.

When stepping into the spiritual works, the lavish decoration is always a prominent feature that attracts visitors. The artwork of the central dome and the use of marble and stained windows make the church stand out even more. In addition, the decorative chandeliers as well as the red carpet spread in the background also make visitors admire

The peaceful atmosphere makes for a dramatic change from the hustle and bustle of the city center outside. At night, the mosque becomes more shimmering when illuminated with white light on the skyline of Ankara.

The Kocatepe Mosque is located in the heart of Ankara, just southeast of the city's famous square, Kizilay Square, where there are many cafes, restaurants, hotels and fast food joints, next to a shopping mall and parking lot.
