"Kathu Festival, or 'Kathu Street Culture Festival' is a festival with a shorter history compared to other famous festivals on the island. Although it has only appeared recently, it has become quite popular. The festival is popular, attracts a large number of participants and every year more. Traditional Thai children's play."

In the past, Kathu was a small village that lived on two main occupations: rice farming and tin mining. Later, those two professions helped Kathu develop and be known to everyone. Kathu festival is celebrated because the people of Kathu want to celebrate and promote their traditional customs and pass them on to the next generation. Visitors will get to know these through a number of interesting exhibitions that take place throughout the festival.

The festival also highlights the fact that many residents in Kathu are Thai of Chinese descent. During the festival, there are local Chinese-influenced dishes such as vegetarian dishes, cultural activities such as lion dance, martial arts, parades, and everyone wears Chinese-style costumes. However, there are also traditional Phuket costumes. One important thing when experiencing the Kathu festival is to wear proper attire. For women, avoid wearing anything too short or too revealing.

The time of Kathu festival varies from year to year but usually takes place during the season with good weather.
