A vibrant and youthful beer garden in the heart of Innsbruck Old Town, Stiftskeller is the perfect place to get a taste of Tyrolean cuisine. From Austrian classics like roast pork, schnitzel and goulash to local specialties like bacon dumplings, you're sure to find something delicious here. In the summer, enjoy sitting outside in the garden and sipping a glass of great flavour. If you're lucky enough to see snow in the snow, be sure to spend time in the garden around Christmas.
Part of the Emperor's palace, Stiftskeller has a long history and tradition. The house was first known as "Harnaschhaus" in 1465, then as 'Wappenhaus' (''House of Jackets''). Duke Siegmund the Minted, Emperor Maximillian I, Archduke Ferdinand II and Empress Maria Theresa often used this house. In 1929, the Zipf brewery took over part of the building and turned it into a restaurant. Today, diners can still admire the fresco in the knight's room and part of the old town wall right in the middle of the restaurant.
Roast pork, spaetzle cheese or even a juicy beef goulash have become an integral part of traditional Tyrolean cuisine and these Tyrolean delicacies are served daily at the Stiftskeller restaurant. Also indispensable is the fresh ribs or beer that the talented chef Raimund Kellner prepares for diners every Thursday and Friday night. A fun, warm space with traditional cuisine always satisfies diners every time they come to Stiftskeller restaurant.
