"Dien Khanh ancient citadel is a famous work and historical relic of Khanh Hoa province. This place has witnessed many important historical events of our nation. Today, Dien Khanh ancient citadel has become a famous attraction attracting domestic and foreign tourists."

Dien Khanh citadel today still retains its ancient architecture, attracting a large number of tourists to discover its historical value from the Nguyen Dynasty here. Dien Khanh citadel is 10 km west of Nha Trang city, on the right of National Highway 1. In 1793, after Nguyen Hue died, Nguyen Anh, Vo Tanh and Nguyen Van Truong led troops to attack Dien Khanh citadel. After repelling the Tay Son insurgents, seeing that this place was an important long-term strategic area, Nguyen Anh decided to build Dien Khanh into a solid base like today's Dien Khanh citadel.

Dien Khanh Citadel has an area of about 36,000 m² with French military architecture style, a popular military house in the 17th-18th centuries in Western Europe. The wall is hexagonal but irregular, 2,693 m in circumference, about 3.5 m high. On each side, the wall is divided into many small, winding pieces, so that the corners are not too prominent but still ensure a close look at the two sides. The outside wall is almost vertical, the inside comfortably covers two steps to create convenient traffic. Outside the moat is a deep moat with a height of 3 to 5 m, a width of 20 to 30 m.

Originally the citadel had 6 gates, but now there are only 4 gates including East, West, South and North. From National Highway 1, there is a road connecting the East and West of the city. The road running outside the citadel connecting National Highway 1 with the West Gate is called Ma Xa. Opposite the West Gate about 200m is Ha Dua Church. Ha Dua Church, built by missionaries in the 1800s and bell tower built by the French in 1917, is an ideal destination for tourists to discover the historical value of Dien Khanh citadel. Inside the citadel there are many unique architectures such as the palace, flagpole, warehouse from the early days of anti-French.
