Profile
Covering an area of about 280 hectares and standing approximately 241 meters tall, Sam Mount holds significant cultural and historical values. At its summit, visitors can see remnants of a stone pedestal where the statue of Lady Chua Xu of Sam Mount once stood before being moved to another location. This pedestal measures 1.60 meters wide and is adorned with a smooth dark blue-green rim in the center, reflecting the sanctity of the site.
Sam Mount is also famous for its many pagodas and temples, including the Lady Chua Xu Temple, Tay An Pagoda, Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb, and Phuoc Dien Pagoda (Hang Pagoda). The historical and cultural site of Sam Mount has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Vietnam as a national heritage site. Scenic attractions like Bach Van Hill and Tao Ngo Garden further enhance the appeal and value of this area.
Notably, Sam Mount has become an important pilgrimage destination, attracting millions of visitors, especially during the “Via Ba Chua Xu - Sam Mount” festival, held from the 23rd to the 27th of the fourth lunar month. This festival attracts around 2 million participants and is one of 15 festivals considered by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism for upgrading to a national tourism product, vividly reflecting the distinctive cultural and religious values of the region.
With its beautiful natural scenery, sacred atmosphere, and rich cultural activities, Sam Mount is not only an attractive tourist destination but also a place to learn about the culture, beliefs, and history of the people in the Mekong Delta.
