President Ho Chi Minh Temple is located in Vinh Hoi Hamlet, Long Duc Commune, Tra Vinh City, Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam. Just about a 5 km drive to the north, visitors will reach the President Ho Chi Minh Temple. The researcher Tran Bach Dang summarized it as a symbol of the "Work of the Heart." This historical and cultural relic holds special significance in the hearts of the people of Tra Vinh and the entire Vietnamese nation. The temple is not only a place to remember President Ho Chi Minh's great contributions but also a symbol of the resilient fighting spirit and indomitable patriotism of the Long Duc people.

Formation History – A Story of Love and Devotion Amid Hardship

On September 2, 1969, when President Ho Chi Minh passed away, the entire nation was engulfed in immeasurable sorrow. In Long Duc Commune, the people, with boundless love and gratitude, decided to erect a temple to commemorate him.

On March 10, 1970, the first temple was built with simple bamboo leaves on a small plot, right next to a military post of the old regime—a testament to the courage of the local people. However, the brutal war did not spare it. In 1971, the temple was burned down. It was burned several more times, with the last time being on the afternoon of April 9, 1975. On April 29, 1975 (just one day before the April 30, 1975 event), the temple was partially damaged by bombs and bullets.

Undeterred, the people of Long Duc continued to rebuild the temple during the years of fierce warfare, even though the structure was destroyed multiple times. The spirit of "maintaining faith despite hardships" of the people of Tra Vinh contributed to the preservation of the temple before the national victory day.

Current Architecture – Homeland Spirit in a Sacred Space

After 1975, the President Ho Chi Minh Temple was restored and expanded several times by the authorities and people of Tra Vinh. Today, the temple is situated on a 5.4-hectare campus, with a simple yet solemn design. The main temple is built in a square block, with a pyramid-shaped roof, covered with leaves, reflecting traditional style. Additionally, the model of President Ho Chi Minh's stilt house—reconstructed to 97% of the famous stilt house at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi—stands out, attracting visitors.

The campus also features a romantic lotus pond and green park, creating a peaceful yet emotional space. Inside the temple, valuable artifacts such as portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, three bronze incense burners, a bronze censer, two bronze jars, five screens, two porcelain elephant pedestals, a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh (oil painting), a set of tea sets, two inlaid wooden altars, and one inlaid wooden altar cabinet... help visitors deeply feel the respect and admiration the people have for the nation's beloved leader.

The exhibition house provides detailed information about President Ho Chi Minh's life, career, and the great contributions of the people of Tra Vinh during the resistance war.

A Moving Story – A Symbol of Resilience

A highlight in the story of the temple is the years of fierce war. Under the command of comrade Phan Thi Nho, the Long Duc female militia team many times protected the temple from enemy attacks. These people, regardless of hardship, risked their lives to safeguard this sacred symbol. Their names live on with the temple, deeply ingrained in the hearts of the local people.

Today's Temple – A Gathering Place of Gratitude and Pride

Today, the President Ho Chi Minh Temple in Tra Vinh is not only a place to remember Uncle Ho but also a popular destination for both domestic and international visitors. This place not only offers a peaceful space to reflect on history but also helps the younger generation understand more about the meaning of sacrifice and patriotism. Try stepping into the stilt house, gazing at the lotus pond, or sitting under the cool green trees in the campus, you will feel the closeness, simplicity yet depth—just like President Ho Chi Minh himself.

On September 5, 1989, the Ministry of Culture - Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) issued a decision recognizing the President Ho Chi Minh Temple as a national revolutionary historical relic, and it was chosen as the symbol of Tra Vinh Province.

Conclusion – The Work of the Heart
