Side is characterized by a mild climate with low humidity, so in the summer the air in this town is also very cool and pleasant. The most favorable and most touristy times here are spring and autumn. This town is a small and quite busy riverside resort. There are markets that are crowded with tourists, and the roads winding through the old town lead down to the area in front of the harbor. There are many cafes and restaurants located along the coast here, so if you are planning to visit and spend your day here on vacation, this is the best place to stop for lunch.
Ancient ruins are scattered around the small town of Side just 64 kilometers northwest of Alanya, so you can easily see them all in one day. The main area of the old ruins is directly opposite the old town entrance of Side. This is where you'll find the monumental 2nd-century Roman Theater, which can accommodate up to 20,000 spectators. It is one of Turkey's best-preserved Roman theaters and the town's most impressive tourist attraction.
Don't miss visiting the Side Museum, housed in a Roman bath across from the theater entrance. You can then explore the area of ruins that include the Agora and the Temple of Tyche located just east of the theater. On both sides of the river are the remaining pillars and pillars of the Temple of Apollo and Athena.
