Hades Rice

In Hue, there is Am Phu Rice Restaurant at 51 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hue. The shop sells many delicious Hue dishes such as: shredded chicken, spring rolls, boiled meat with sour shrimp sauce, but the special dish is so the name of the restaurant is Com Am Phu. The shop has been open for sale since 1916. But so, Am Phu rice dish has been present in Hue for more than 100 years.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the shop was built in a deserted land, and often opened until late to serve guests, mainly people who went to see tuong, festival, singing, dancing...

The restaurant only uses a burning oil lamp, but only sells popular rice dishes mixed with lean meat, vegetables, and dipping sauces of all colors (white, green, yellow, red, black). So customers are happy to call the name of the restaurant's rice dish as Hades rice.

Hades rice is one of the typical dishes for the culinary art of Hue. In the past, this dish is still handed down with the sentence: "Want to eat lyrical rice/plates / There is a ghost shop behind". From a dish served to workers, brought to Phu De through the processing hands of the Mothers with the capital of the Palace culture, the dish is returned to the rustic with a new beautiful decoration, more ethereal and gentler than a plate of mixed rice.

More than 14 years ago, I once introduced Hue cuisine to my 8-year-old daughter. Maybe it's because the rice is strange or my daughter likes Casper movies, so she enjoys the whole plate of rice.
