At Jeju Folk Village, the unique lifestyle and traditional culture of Jeju Island are reflected as they appeared in the 19th century. A mountain village, fishing village, botanical garden, market, government building Old times and authentic magical rituals are reproduced on this 4,500-hectare site in Pyoseon-ri. The village was built on long-term study of the period of the 1890s at the end of the Joseon Dynasty and just before the Japanese annexation of Korea. More than 8,000 folk works are displayed here such as household appliances, farming tools, fishing tools, furniture and pottery. In the folk performance hall, traditional cultural performances such as folk songs, haenyeo dance, and mask dance are held twice a day. Various sections present Jeju's culture from shaman to yuanban (noble), and the difference between mountain, hill-countryside and fishing village. In addition, certified craftsmen demonstrate their age-old techniques. Through video and audio materials, you can enjoy Jeju's cultural assets such as legends, provincial dialects, and folk songs. At the local market, visitors can try a variety of traditional foods at reasonable prices. In addition, there are country-style restaurants serving inexpensive rice and noodle dishes, traditional music and dance performances and, oddly, an ostrich farm.
