At the place where the Twin Towers are located are the two largest man-made waterfalls in North America. The two main reflecting pools are the 9/11 Memorial "Monument", designed by architect Michael Arad to commemorate all that was lost in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and bombings. at the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993.
Surrounding the lake are bronze plates engraved with the names of 3,000 people killed in the attacks, including rescue workers who died while rescuing other victims. For visitors who want to learn more about 9/11, the memorial grounds are home to a museum that displays the finest collection of artifacts and documents. Visitors can tour the memorial outside for free. However, to enter the museum, visitors need to buy a ticket.
