Among the many Buddhist sites in Bodhgaya, there is another important site called Metta Buddharam Temple also known as silver temple - a beautiful structure built by Thai people.

Located on the Sujata bypass, compared to other temples and monasteries, this temple is located on a very small piece of land that is recognizable thanks to the white Buddha image that can be seen from a distance.

This temple has a stainless steel exterior and mirror mosaic decoration. It has a typical Thai temple style. The structure and details of this temple are given more attention due to its simplicity and lack of color. The roof tile is made up of pressed stainless steel and the interior is sheet stainless steel. The main floor of the temple is handcrafted with wood to maintain warmth in winter. The stairs and walkways are repeatedly inlaid with semi-precious stones of different sizes to form a flower shape.

The white Buddha statue depicting Padmasana Buddha is very elegant and gives off divine vibes. The peace and tranquility on the statue creates a sense of lightness. The stairs and concrete floors are flanked by white dragons with mosaic mirrors. Other structures are covered in small mirror tiles, which reflect light and color making them a treat for the eyes.

The temple also has a statue of the Great Ashoka wearing a kashāya in this temple. The statue looks more like a Greek god than of someone who promoted Buddhism in the Indian subcontinent. The temple is also decorated with many hand-made sculptures, from a mixture of white cement, clay and epoxy. Below the temple is a meditation room with marble floors providing a perfect environment for devotees to meditate.
