Profile
Everyone knows and Café Papon, as it has been associated with Geneva life since 1808. Café Papon was recreated in its present location in 1983. Since then, it has occupied a privileged position, open on the promenade Treille, on the ground floor of the Town Hall, the space of the bar has separate sections modified to serve multiple functions.
The restaurant's current main space is a vaulted room with a central pillar, arranged between the 15th and 17th centuries. It was used as a cooking space due to its proximity to the kitchen. At the end of the 18th century, when the kitchen was removed, two rooms were joined in plaster. On the ground floor, the cafe de la Treille was founded in 1808, run by lemonade maker Antoine Papon (1754-1846), originally from Bourgoin in Isère (France) and his wife Genevan Pernette.
The interior of the restaurant is decorated with fragments of marble often seen in works of art from 1978-1981.
Since the shop was repaired and reopened in 2005 under the command of two dynamic local chefs, the restaurant located in a beautiful stone cellar combined with modern Swiss flair has become more and more popular. local. Menus are based on local, seasonal ingredients and are changed weekly. The reasonably priced menu appeals to office workers during workdays, and the quiet, sunny outdoor patio leads to a lush green promenade overlooking beautiful Bastions Park.
In addition, Café Papon has an extensive wine collection and other wines served in the bar.
