Today, Ham Rong Bridge has become a national historical relic and a must-see tourist attraction of Thanh Hoa city.

Ham Rong Bridge was built by the French in 1904 but in 1946 the bridge was destroyed. However, in 1962 the bridge was rebuilt and it took two years, in 1964 the bridge was officially inaugurated. The bridge consists of 2 steel girder spans, in the middle is a railway, on both sides is a car road and a pedestrian street, the design is quite similar to the Long Bien bridge in Hanoi. During the war, Ham Rong bridge had a traffic position, a very important strategic position for not only the people of Thanh but also the people of the whole country. This is the only road and railway bridge that crosses the Ma River, connecting traffic from the North to the South. Hundreds of thousands of tons of weapons, food, and medicine have been supplied to the southern battlefield through this bridge. It is because of such importance that the US military constantly ravages the bridge with very high intensity in order to block the supply route. The armed forces, along with the people of Thanh Hoa, have protected the bridge smoothly regardless of day or night, and many children have fallen in the process of protecting the bridge. The bridge as a proof of history, it is also persistent, resilient and refuses to back down in the face of difficulties just like the people here. Ham Rong Bridge has become a beautiful sightseeing and sightseeing address of Thanh Hoa city.
