Designated a natural monument, the Bijarim forest contains approximately 2,800 nutmeg trees, most of which are between 500 and 800 years old. They have a height of 7-14m and a diameter of 50-110cm. This is the largest nutmeg forest in the world. Under the cool green trees is a trail about 5km long which is always well maintained to welcome visitors.

Deep in the forest of Bijarim is an 800-year-old "new millennium nutmeg" tree - one of the oldest nutmeg trees in the world. The tree is over 25m high and has a circumference of approximately 6m, the canopy is up to 15m wide. The tree carries a great meaning to the spiritual life of the people of Jeju Island, as an embodiment of the indomitable spirit of the Korean people.

Visiting the forest of Bijarim, you can stop to inhale the scent of nutmeg branches, or look for berries falling on the ground. However, if you come in April, you will have the opportunity to witness the blooming red flower season on the vast trees. It will take visitors about 2 hours to walk the trail through the Bijarim forest. The forest is open year-round and will close a little earlier in winter. Visitors here will have to buy tickets to visit, but the ticket price is also quite cheap. The entrance fee is 3000 KRW for adults, 1500 KRW for teenagers and children.
