Church of St. Stephen (Stephansdom) is located in the historic center of Vienna. This church was originally a 12th century Romanesque basilica but after many changes became a Romanesque basilica of the late 13th century, the original remains are the grand gate and the Tower of Heathen Until the 14th century, This church has been reconstructed in the Gothic style with the addition of the choir and chapel of Saint Eligius, Saint Tirna and Saint Catherine. In the 15th century, the famous 137-meter tall South Tower (Steffl) was completed. Improvements and construction followed throughout the 17th to 19th centuries, and the entire structure was rebuilt after the World War. II. Highlights include the 343-step staircase to Steffl's Clock Room for breathtaking views, and the North Tower, home to the giant Pummerin Bell. Other features of note are the 14th-century crypt and the Cathedral Treasure, which contains many of the church's most important artifacts.
