Profile
Ton Dao formerly belonged to Phuc Nhac parish. Since the middle of the 19th century, this fertile land has attracted thousands of immigrants to come here to settle down, in which Catholics are the majority, so the Bishop's Office decided to establish a parish in Ton Dao. In the early days, parishioners here also built a simple church to perform prayers according to Catholic rites. In 1922, parishioners decided to build a more spacious and solid church on the current ground and it took more than 14 years to complete.
Visitors who have the opportunity to visit Ton Dao Church will surely admire the exquisite and unique architectural lines and patterns, which are designed inspired by the famous Gothic style. From the large bell tower to the intricately carved carp at the top of the drain; especially when it rains, the carp seem to be swimming around in the water. The church's campus is nearly 24,000 square meters, the facade has 3 doors including a central main door with a large aisle and two side doors on both sides.
The space inside the church is very airy with high ceilings and two rows of columns that are built beautifully symmetrically. Right on the main campus of the church is the sacred statue of the Immaculate Conception. Another highlight is that the church still retains the cement pulpit with other carved patterns that are extremely sophisticated and unique.
Through the ups and downs of history, the parish church of Ton Dao remains a sacred place for the parishioners in the area, where they can come to express their hearts and show their absolute reverence for God. In addition, this is also a recently emerging check-in place for young people because the church has a very unique and beautiful architecture and especially this place is not too crowded like other tourist attractions. in Ninh Binh.
