Haeundae Sand Festival

Held annually in May, in the areas of Haeundae Beach and Haeundae Mall, the Haeundae Sand Festival is all about sand art, beach sports, and beach night parties. .

The Haeundae Sand Festival is held on bustling Haeundae Beach and offers plenty of photo opportunities - giant sand sculptures created by world-class artists, beach towers in defiance spectacular of the impermanent nature of sand. The festival is held in May, so the weather is normally bright and clear, but the sculptures have remained miraculously undamaged by the elements due to the festival's seaside location. Last year (2019), with the theme "When music meets sand", there were 14 sand sculptors from 8 countries, including Korea, USA, Japan, China, Belgium, Canada, Italy and Ha Lan, created 20 music-themed works. Each sand sculpture has a theme song to stimulate the viewer's visual and auditory senses.

In addition to sand sculptures, the festival features a variety of other activities such as sand sports, including sandboarding, sand treasure hunting, sandcastle building, and beach volleyball, where all everyone can attend. Moreover, Haeundae Sand Festival also organizes many activities for people on the street such as "Water Gun Survival" - using eco-friendly water balloons, the parade contest "Music is Life" is also one of the events. The event was attended by many locals.

After sunset, the festival becomes more special. With different lights shining on the sculptures, festivalgoers will be able to see the sculptures from a new angle, while different films will be shown on the white sand dunes. at the "Sand Movie Theater." Music performances from local and international artists will also take place every night, with a large stage set up on the beach so festivalgoers can dance the night away on the sands of Haeundae.
