Dong The Forest Garden (Dongshih Forest Garden)

Dongshi Forest Garden is one of the largest and most beautiful ecological gardens in Taiwan. With an area of more than 200 hectares, Dong The Forest Enterprise is nicknamed the "Four Corners Forest" because of its lush, dense trees. Only 8km from the center of Tungshih Town, there are quite a few major roads and hiking routes that lead to farms deep in the forest. Originally the farm was merely a plantation area, after twenty to thirty years of careful care, the land is now covered with dense forest and arable land. At an altitude of 500 meters, this area is a great retreat on hot summer days

The landscape here changes markedly during the four seasons. In recent years, the forest management board has strengthened its management and planning to ensure the flowers bloom all year round. Plum blossoms bloom in January, Cherry blossoms and Do Quyen bloom from January to March, Do Quyen and paulownia flowers from April to May. From November to January, visitors can also enjoy the warm autumn colors when the maple trees flush with a vibrant red color. The Youth Activity Center in the shifting farm organizes activities to help you get back to nature and social networking activities, equipped with BBQ grills, campsites, cottages, swimming pools in the forest, horse riding course, orange farm... Facilities are arranged according to age, gender and health status, including areas specifically for people with disabilities.

Recently, this destination is also famous for its firefly viewing. The forest ecosystem is very well managed, clean water contributes to creating an ideal habitat for fireflies. March and April, will be the best time to visit fireflies. The small dancing fireflies create a magical yet completely natural scene.
