Field Museum of Natural History
Over 32,516 square feet, the Field Museum is one of Chicago's most beloved institutions, and one of the largest natural history museums in the world.
The museum has more than 20 million artifacts and specimens from many cultures around the world and in various fields such as geology, botany, zoology and anthropology.
The diverse collection of dinosaurs is one of the main attractions here. Upon entering the museum, visitors will be greeted by a Titanosaur skeleton named Maximo. This is the largest dinosaur that ever lived on earth. Evolving Planet exhibits fossil specimens placed in simulations of their habitat. Here you will find SUE, the most complete skeleton ever found of a T-rex dinosaur.
The Inside Ancient Egypt exhibition, which displays artifacts about ancient Egypt, is also a favorite at the museum. Here, visitors will walk through the chamber of a 5,000-year-old tomb, admire hieroglyphs, explore one of the largest collections of mummies in the United States, stroll around an Egyptian bazaar, and visit Temple of the cat god Bastet.
In addition, the museum also has many other interesting collections such as exhibitions on insects at Underground Adventure; admire the beauty of glittering jewels and learn how to turn a raw stone into a work of art at the Grainnger Hall of Gems; or discover China's 10,000-year-old history at the Cyrus Tang Hall of China through rare garments, bronze statues and ceramics...
