Seoul Art Museum is the capital city's representative art museum, it aims to become a "Beautiful, Good, and Smart Museum", and at the same time elevates it to a world-famous art museum. gender. The building of the Seoul Art Museum is specially designed with many large windows that flood the interior with natural light. This not only attracts visitors but also artists, and even film directors, some of whom have used the location to shoot multiple sets.
SeMA's exhibitions include a variety of content and forms, meeting the two missions of "post-museum" and "global museum". The exhibition addresses the trend of “deconstruct genres” by celebrating all art-related fields such as architecture, cinema, music, fashion, craft, design, and art. design and more.
SeMA is striving to become a world-class art museum by organizing exquisite exhibitions such as SeMA Blue for young Korean artists, SeMA Gold for middle-aged artists, SeMA Green for young artists. Senior artists, Special Foreign Exhibition and International Exchange Exhibition – in cooperation with famous art museums from around the world. Furthermore, SeMA promotes internationalization through international media arts forums and SeMA Nanji Residency's residency program. SeMA completed a project to promote exchange and interaction with guests and Korean art history through a collection of approximately 3,500 works including works by masters in Korean art history such as Hwan Gi. Kim, Young Gook Yoo, Nam June Pai, Woo Hwan Lee, Seo Bo Park and Myong Ro Yoon, as well as other contemporary artists.
Since the site was established, the main museum building has been moved to Seosemun-dong in Seoul. The museum has many annex buildings such as SeMA Gyeonghuijung, located on the historic Gyeonghuigung Palace, and South Seoul Annex Building, located in the building that used to be the Belgian Embassy. The museum also runs Naji Art Studio, which provides workshops and financial support to new generations of Korean artists to nurture their creativity.
In addition to the two main exhibition halls, the museum has everything from a photo gallery, to a cafe, art shop, art gallery and restaurant. Near the museum is a local park known for its towering dinosaur sculptures, perfect for a picnic on warm sunny days.
