In 1980, the Taiwanese government decided to announce plans to build a science-themed museum with a large scale on an area of 89,000 square meters. In early 1986, the museum officially opened its first phase to welcome tourists with main areas including: Science Center, Space Theater, administrative offices and outdoor exhibition area. Phases 2 and 3 were completed in 1988 and 1993, respectively, and by 1999, the museum's number of exhibits had increased to nearly 600,000 copies.
With a total area of nearly 89,000 m2, the museum is a complex of six locations: the Space Theater, the Science Center, the Life Science Room, the Human Culture Room, the Global Environment Room, and the Garden. There are more than 30 permanent exhibition areas where you can explore the mysteries of the world under topics as diverse as astronomy, physics, earth science, paleontology, zoology, botany and anthropology. The Science Center is on a mission to convey knowledge of physics and chemistry in the most engaging ways possible. The ultimate goal is to arouse children's interest in science, even parents can join in the fun of science with their children. Exploring the Life Science Hall will help you better understand the evolution of our world in a setting that spans from the age of the dinosaurs to the age of man. In the Dinosaur Gallery you'll find more than 50 different fossils and replicas as well as four life-size animatronic dinosaurs, creating interest and excitement. Finally, the Human Culture Hall offers an insight into Chinese medicine, technology, agricultural life, and spirituality, contributing to the introduction and promotion of the wisdom of Chinese people. ancestor.
The National Museum of Natural Science is open from 09.00 AM to 05.00 PM (weekdays, except Mondays). Entrance tickets: NT100/adult and NT$70/child (from 3 to 11 years old) and students & students (with student and student card), children under 3 years old are free to enter. From downtown Taichung, you can take a bus (Taichung City Bus) and get off at the National Museum of Natural Science stop.
