The oldest African museum in Europe

The oldest museum in France with collections dedicated to the African community. Built in 1861 on the initiative of the French missionary association. The museum is a showcase of cultural links between Africa and Europe, and is also the oldest French museum for Africa. Covering an area of 750m², there are 2,126 artifacts and pictures reflecting the life and work of people of African origin from ancient times to the present. The museum's collection specializes in West African objects. In 1998, the museum began to upgrade and restore because time has caused a lot of damage to the building, the building officially reopened on January 28, 2001.

Exhibition programs are regularly held to serve the people. The exhibition is divided into three categories: daily life, social life and religious life.
