Ancient Citadel of Anemurium

Although very developed and made rich by being an important export port, the city was weakened by occupation by the Sassanids. It was abandoned during Arab raids in the 6th century, then ruled by the Seljuks in the 11th century and the Ottomans in the 16th century.
