Start and end in Saigon – ride through Chợ Lớn, stroll along Lantern Street, enjoy mooncakes, and visit Thien Hau Temple.
Mid-Autumn Festival – also known as the Festival of Reunion – has long been one of the most important traditional celebrations in Vietnam.
It is a time when families come together to admire the full moon, enjoy mooncakes, and exchange best wishes. In Saigon, as the festival approaches, the lively spirit spreads across every corner of the city, especially in Chinatown (Chợ Lớn) – home to the Chinese-Vietnamese community for centuries and a place rich in cultural heritage.
Ride through bustling streets that take you deep into the heart of Chợ Lớn – a neighborhood that preserves the architectural and cultural imprints of the Chinese community.
The highlight of the journey is Lantern Street, a legendary spot during every Mid-Autumn Festival. As night falls, the entire street glows with thousands of colorful lanterns – red, yellow, green, purple – creating a dazzling, vibrant scene perfect for photos.
No Mid-Autumn experience is complete without mooncakes. Stop at a local shop to enjoy these traditional treats and learn about their cultural meaning of family reunion and togetherness.
Continue the journey to Thien Hau Temple, a sacred site built in the 18th century, dedicated to the Sea Goddess Mazu who protects seafarers and merchants. The temple is not only a religious center but also a cultural landmark of the Chinese-Vietnamese community in Saigon.
