The Miller Open Air Theater offers an eight-month season of professional entertainment that is artistically, culturally diverse, and always free to the public.
In 1922, the theater was originally designed by William Ward Watkin as an amphitheater surrounded by twenty Corinthian limestone columns - a former municipality in central Greece and built by Tom Tellepsen. The hill of the theater was created in 1948 out of rock from excavations on Fannin Street. In 1968, the city built a new theater with bonds and the public voted to approve the construction. This new building was built by architect Eugene Werlin et al., and has won numerous awards. The 1968 Miller Theater building was subsequently refurbished beginning in 1996 with funding from the city of Houston and Hermann Park donors.
Today, the Miller Theater is located on 7.5 acres in Hermann Park with 1,705 sheltered seats, a sloping lawn that can accommodate approximately 4,500 additional seats, and 20 wheelchair spaces. The theater building itself consists of a stage with an area of nearly 250 square meters, 54 sets of lights, curtains, miniatures and an orchestra pit that can be raised and lowered and changing rooms, offices, equipment. stage equipment with 110 tons air conditioning system to cool the performance area.

It is Miller Theater policy to allow guests to bring their own drinks and food to performances except glass containers and water bottles.

If there are tickets left after 13:00, guests can get their tickets at the box office 1 hour before the show starts.
Each person can only receive a maximum of 4 tickets.
All performances at the Miller Open Air Theater are free no matter where visitors sit, however, the theater requires tickets.
