Profile
Notre Dame La Garde Church is located at Rue Fort du Sanctuaire, 13281 Marseille, France.
The church was built in 1864, on a limestone mountain south of Marseille. This place is rated as the most typical tourist destination of Marseille, where visitors must definitely visit.
Notre Dame de la Garde is a rather long and difficult name to remember, but it deeply expresses the people's faith and longing for help from Our Lady. Therefore, the highlight of the church is the gilded statue of the Mother of God placed on the top of the towering bell tower.
The statue has a height of up to 11.2m, plus the round tower pedestal below is 12.5m high, with this size, the whole construction exudes a rare majesty. The whole statue is cast in bronze and plated with half a pound of gold. Under the pressure of time, the statue has been significantly eroded. In order to keep the shape of the statue, the French people restored it in 1936, 1963 and 1989, respectively.
Structure Notre Dame La Garde Cathedral is divided into 3 main parts: the lower church, the main church at the top and the bell tower above.
At the church below you will see the altar, a statue of Our Lady carrying the Lord similar to the bell tower but smaller in size and stairs so visitors can go up to visit the main church.
The main church is elaborately and elaborately decorated, especially the main hall. The main hall is built of splendid marble, the arch is a series of paintings of the Mother of God, boats simulate the Great Flood... For architecture lovers, this church is a beauty not to be missed. Miss.
