The Grand Lyon Aquarium is a popular destination for family outings.

Also known as the Aquarium de Lyon - a large aquarium located in the La Mulatière district of Lyon, near the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Created by Maurice Chicheportiche and opened in October 2002, the aquarium holds more than 1,000,000 liters of water, nurturing over 5,000 species of fish and aquatic animals representing 300 species. The aquarium was built on the principle of the Chambord double crew, allowing visitors to monitor continuously. This area has an area of 2 500m² with space for the backstage, visitors go from one point to the next without feeling the duplication, or boredom.

The largest aquariums are the Fosse Aux Requins, which contains a model of a shipwreck wrapped in polyurethane resin as an alternative to iron (iron will rust and rust is toxic to fish), the aquarium's glass layers are up to 23cm thick to withstand water pressure so that visitors can clearly see the creatures in the water. The aquarium is divided into five zones: local wildlife, temperate waters, tropical waters, subtropical waters and tiger shark breeding grounds.
