“The oldest jazz club in Busan, MONK has a reputation for having the best jazz performances in the city”

A few cities in the world are known for specific musical styles, for example Chicago is known as the city of blues, Detroit is known for motown music, Nashville is country music, Vienna is a place of classical music, and San Juan is salsa music. But every city has a jazz club hidden somewhere within its borders. Low-lit spaces with a small stage and a sense of nostalgia, even in smoke-free times like the 20s and 30s. There's something about jazz that makes it unique. unique and puts jazz in its own corner of the music world. In Busan, too, those who love jazz will certainly not be strange when it comes to jazz bar MONK.

The oldest jazz club in Busan, a cozy venue with friendly English-speaking staff, Club MONK is named after the famous jazz musician, Thelonious Monk. This is a great place to relax with a glass of wine. Opened in 1992 by a local doctor and jazz enthusiast, MONK has stood the test of time. The sound engineer at MONK says Monk's long history is due to the owner's pride in running a "cultural venue" for guests of all ages and backgrounds.

MONK hosts daily jazz performances from 21:00 to 23:00 every Sunday from Sunday. Featuring nightly live music and jazz related documentaries. Nightly performers now include about fifteen regular local bands and jazz-related projects, with concerts by artists from Seoul or Japan also occasionally appearing on stage.

About every month or so, Club MONK also invites the public to their Famous Poetry Competition, in which local poets, comedians, and actors perform.
