Saigon Post Office, also known as Ho Chi Minh City Post Office Building, is one of the typical architectural works in Ho Chi Minh City, located at 2, Cong Xa Paris Square, District 1. The Sai Gon Central Post Office, also known as the Saigon Central Post Office, is located on Cong Xa Paris Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. This building stands as one of the most beautiful classical architecture structures in Saigon and was constructed between 1886 and 1891. Since its inception, the Sai Gon Central Post Office has become an iconic symbol of the city and a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Saigon.

After the occupation of Gia Dinh, in 1860, the French quickly initiated the construction of the Sài Gòn Telegraph Office (also known as the Sài Gòn Post Office) to establish a communication system. This project was designed by French architect Gustave Eiffel. In 1863, the Sài Gòn Post Office was officially inaugurated.

In 1864, the first letters with the “'con co” stamp, were officially issued and sent from Sai Gon to various places and even around the world.

The Sài Gòn Post Office was reconstructed from 1886 onwards based on the design plans by architect Auguste Vildieu and assistant Foulhoux due to increasing demand. In 1891, the new headquarters of the Sài Gòn Post Office was officially opened.

Despite being over 130 years old, the post office maintains its vintage charm with its original design and remains a famous attraction in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2014, the post office underwent extensive renovations and refurbishments, including repainting the entire building and repairing damaged areas.
