Pisa Market - Pisa market

Pisa's traditional food market is located in several streets just off the main walkway, Via Borgo Stretto, north of the river. The center of the market is a small arched square, but stalls continue to line the streets beyond. Fruit and vegetable stalls are popular, but there are also vendors selling all sorts of other Italian cuisine. We enjoyed walking through the market and being part of its vibrant, colorful atmosphere.

The main part of the market is in Vettovaglie square, but the stalls often pass through the archway. You will also find some interesting history in the market area. One of the huge ancient towers of Pisa is located here (Torre del Campano). There are 4 ancient towers in this center of Pisa. The market is open daily (except Sunday) from 7am to 1:30pm although some vendors stay there longer in the afternoon.
