What to expect

This unique tour combines the best of Can Tho’s floating market, local traditions, scenic waterways, and natural beauty with a deep dive into the region’s history. From the bustling Cai Rang Floating Market to the serene 2,800-hectare forest & wetland conservation, this experience offers something for every nature and culture lover.

At 5:00 AM, our driver and expert guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the boat station, where you'll board an authentic sampan (small boat) for your morning river adventure.

Your first stop will be the Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest and most famous market in Can Tho. As you approach the market, your boat driver will slow down to offer you a stunning view of the sunrise over the Can Tho tributary of the Mekong River—a peaceful start to your day.

While at the market, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast on the river (vegetarian-friendly options available). Indulge in fresh pineapple, coffee, and other local delicacies as you soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the floating market and gain insight into the local river life.

Next, your sampan will take you to a nearby village where a friendly local family invites you to visit their traditional noodle house. Watch in awe as they craft colorful noodles by hand, a skill passed down through generations. You’ll also get to taste a unique noodle pizza, freshly prepared by the owner’s wife—a true local delicacy.

After the noodle house visit, you’ll leave the crowds behind and embark on a peaceful sampan ride through the non-touristy canals of Phong Dien. These tranquil waterways are considered among the most beautiful in Can Tho, with lush greenery, nipa palms, freshwater mangroves, and coconut trees lining the banks. This part of the tour will allow you to relax, take in the fresh air, and fully embrace the serenity of the Mekong Delta. Your boat driver will slow the boat down to allow you to fully appreciate the peaceful surroundings, offering a perfect opportunity to unwind.

At 8:00 AM, return to Ninh Kieu Pier and board the car for your next destination—the 2,800-hectare forest and wetland conservation area, a true haven for nature lovers. This protected area is home to diverse wildlife and offers an incredible experience of the region’s natural beauty.

Upon arrival, your guide will assist you with boat tickets (included) and you'll embark on a wonderful boat journey through the wetlands. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to spot native birds and explore wild canals, immersing yourself in the untouched beauty of the region.

Next, visit the 25-meter observation tower, where you can take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the wetland forest and the surrounding seasonal rice fields. Afterward, enjoy a light 1.2 km trek through the forest, an easy walk that offers fantastic opportunities for birdwatching and further exploration of the natural landscape. (If you prefer, you can opt to return by boat instead of trekking.)

End your nature journey with a visit to the giant Ficus Microcarpa tree, a historic site with significant ties to the Vietnam War. This ancient tree once served as a hideout for the Viet Cong, who camouflaged their supplies and used the area for guerrilla training. Your guide will share fascinating stories and insights about the war's impact on the Mekong region before heading back to your hotel.
