Hue city and Dong Hoi City /Phong Nha area
Your guide and vehicle will pick you up in downtown Hue. You will begin your journey north along National Route 1A towards the DMZ, the former demilitarized zone that divided Vietnam for over 20 years.
7:00 AM – Visit to La Vang.
Stop at La Vang, an important Catholic pilgrimage site in Vietnam, believed to be the place where the Virgin Mary appeared in the late 18th century during a period of religious persecution under King Canh Thinh (Tay Son Dynasty).
7:30 AM – Transfer to Quang Tri Citadel.
Continue your journey to the ancient Quang Tri Citadel, a military fortress originally built during the reign of Emperor Gia Long in 1809, which has played a strategic role throughout Vietnamese history.
7:40 AM – Visit to Quang Tri Citadel.
This site was the scene of a fierce 81-day battle during the summer of 1972 between the South Vietnamese Liberation Army and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam.
Now a memorial cemetery, it is the final resting place of thousands of unidentified soldiers, a solemn symbol of the sacrifice and losses suffered during the war.
8:40 AM – Transfer to Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River.
Continue north on National Route 1 to the 17th parallel.
9:40 AM – Visit to Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River.
This area marked the temporary division of North and South Vietnam under the 1954 Geneva Accords.
The Hien Luong Bridge was the site of intense psychological warfare, with propaganda loudspeakers, flagpole-height competitions, and bridge-color contests between the two sides.
10:00 AM – Transfer to Phong Nha via the western branch of the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Along the way, your guide will tell you the story of the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, a vital supply route for transporting food and weapons from north to south during the Vietnam War.
12:30 PM – Lunch at a local restaurant in Phong Nha.
Enjoy a meal and some rest before exploring the cave.
1:30 PM – Visit to Phong Nha Cave.
Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Phong Nha Cave is known for:
You will board a motorboat on the Son River and venture approximately 1.5 km into the cave, where a guide will provide informative commentary on the geology, formation, and historical significance of the cave.
4:00 PM – End of tour.
