Buon Ma Thuot is a city in Dak Lak province, about 360 km from Saigon and is one of the largest cities in the Central Highlands. Buon Ma Thuot is small but crowded. With a population of about 300,000, it is home to ethnic minorities such as the Jarai and Rhade ethnic groups. The site has historical relevance as it was the site of the last major confrontation between the North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese armies in March 1975.
