“This basement in the heart of District VIII is an ideal stop for wine connoisseurs. There is not only an impressive collection of regional wines, but also a generous, fun tasting.”

Located on Bródy Street in the Palace District, Tasting Table is one of the “must visit” places in Budapest. Founded and managed by the team behind Taste Hungary, a travel agency that specializes in leading wine and food tours in the country, Tasting Table is a wine shop and bar. With over 200 Hungarian wine labels, it offers a wide selection of local wines in wooden tasting trays.

Stepping down the stairs into Tasting Table is a haven for connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts. The walls of the stone cellar were lined with wine bottles, and the wooden tables were always filled with chatter and laughter.

Every Thursday night at Tasting Table is a wine and snack tasting session. This is a great way to learn about Hungarian cuisine and Hungarian wine. These dinners are also ideal for sharing and learning more information as participants can ask questions about any traditional wine or food pairing.

At the wine tasting, participants will be greeted with a traditional Roma music while enjoying the first course, Gypsy Farmer's Cheese Dip served with bodag (a type of toast). Then there's the "Csobánka"-style stuffed chili, a bit like traditional Hungarian stuffed cabbage, except this comes with lecsó, a vegetable stew with onions, tomatoes, and paprika. Dessert varies from delicious Water Waffles or Challah with cinnamon. All dishes will be accompanied by 6 wines delicately combined by the wine expert at Tasting Table.
