Stöckli - Cheese making class

icon-locationBern - Switzerland
“Know more about the history of the traditional Swiss cheese Emmental brand from a master with many years of experience and learn different techniques to create the famously delicious cheese”

Stöckli – dating back to 1741, is one of the last production facilities where cheese is still made over an open fire as in the old days. With so much history and tradition, it's no surprise that Stöckli is also a popular filming location and has been shown on television in many countries.

In a small group, visitors will learn how to prepare cheese according to the process, how to stir the milk, the size of the fire, how to separate the milk and how long the cheese should be aged. The class will last for 2 hours. For guests in Switzerland, after they make the cheese, Stöckli will age and wait for fermentation and then send the cheese to their home after 4 months. For guests who are not in Switzerland, they can opt for the cheese tasting option after the class.

After the course, visitors can tour the cheese production site in the factory and hear about the history of the Emmental brand. Combined with a stroll around the traditional cheese-making village is an ideal family picnic.

Courses must always be booked by email in advance for Stöckli to arrange. Each group will have a maximum of 25 people.
